The man in the garage

This term in English lessons, Year Six have been studying Skellig by David Almond.  In the first  lesson, the children enjoyed looking at different covers of the book to predict what would happen. Then, after reading the first few chapters, they learned that the main character, Michael, found a strange ‘man’ in his garage. The children enjoyed acting out scenes where they pretended to be Michael persuading his dad (and the builder) not to knock down the garage in order to protect the man he had found. They then wrote some fantastic persuasive sentences and had lots of brilliant ideas.
