Beowlf- narrative writing

This half term, Year 5 have enjoyed reading the story Beowolf written by Michael Morpurgo. After finishing the book, the children have planned and written a sequel to the story about the brave warrior meeting and fighting a second beast. Within their writing, the children have included features that we have looked at this term in our English lessons. The classes have found out about similes and metaphors and created some great ones of their own that they have used to add detail to their writing. In addition, the children have included speech and different sentence types in their narratives. We have thoroughly enjoyed reading all of the stories as the children have carefully considered their language to create terrifying monsters who are defeated after a long, ferocious battle with Beowolf.
