Multiplication mania

In Maths this week, the boys and girls have been learning how to multiply a single digit number by a two digit number. They represented the calculation in two different ways: as a repeated addition calculation and a multiplication calculation.  The children used place value counters to represent the multiplication sum.  They then counted the tens and then the ones to reach their answer.  The children worked with enthusiasm with their partner and enjoyed using language such as ‘groups of’ and ‘product’.
