Linking to the fractions work Year 5 have been undertaking recently, this week we have begun working on decimals! We started by looking at fractions with denominators of 10 or 100, and how we can turn these into fractions, which we found really easy! After that we looked at denominators such as 25 and 50, before moving on to other, more complex numbers.
To consolidate learning, Year 5 were given a set of cards; they worked with their partner to match the decimal to the fractions, including denominators up to 1000! When matching up was completed, some children played snap, and others played memory pairs!
The children have worked so hard and it’s lovely to see how well they’re managing this new concept!
