Growth graphs!

During Science lessons this week, we have continued our topic of ‘Animals Including Humans’. Earlier in the week, the children learned about gestation periods, and enjoyed researching the different gestation periods for different mammals (did you know that an alpaca is pregnant for 11-12 months?!).

Following this, the children were shown pictures of a baby every month, from birth to their first birthday. They discussed the changes on a month to month basis, before comparing a newborn baby to a one year old child. They were then given data for the weight of the average baby boy born in the UK, and used it to plot a line graph.

Although it was challenging, the children enjoyed looking at the information and discussing how a baby develops.
