Diwali Festival

We have been learning all about Diwali in Reception. The children have learnt all about the meaning behind the festival and how it is also known as the festival of light. We watched a variety of different video clips on the internet to be able to understand the festival in more detail. During guided reading we read the story ‘My World, Your World’ and looked at different religions and beliefs, genders and nationalities. We talked about how everyone is different and linked this to our learning about Anti-Bullying Week. We also made our own made Diva Lamps to take home and Rangoli patterns using chalk and coloured sand. In the bays outside the classroom we made our own dark den to use different light sources when playing inside.
