Diwali and Anti-bullying week in Nursery

Diwali

This week at Nursery we have been learning about Diwali – The Festival of Light. We have looked at their culture, how it is different from us, and how they celebrate it. The children loved the Bollywood dancing with instruments and ribbons, as well as admiring their costumes and colours. We made our own Diya lamps with salt dough and added sequins. The children enjoyed looking at Rangoli patterns, we looked at patterns around the classroom and on our clothing and made repeating patterns with lego. The children then made their own Rangoli patterns with sand and sequins.

Anti-bullying Day

On Monday was antibullying day, the children came into school with odd socks on. We talked about how everyone is different in the world and that is okay! We created our own odd socks and thought about how we could do this with patterns and colours.
