Maths Magic!

This week Year One have become budding mathematicians and have started learning about addition.  The children have been introduced to a part part whole model and are starting to understand that the parts are always equal to the whole.  Everyone has enjoyed drawing their own part part whole model or using counters or toy dinosaurs to complete each part of the model.  Alongside this, the pupils have started learning about the related fact families and have experienced writing number sentences to describe a part part whole model, a bar model or even a tens frame.
