Batik Bonanza!

This week, Year 5 have further developed their understanding of batik. The children were asked to produce two ideas that they might be able to replicate in the style of batik, with an Anglo Saxon theme running through. They then decided which design was the most appropriate and drew it using pencil onto a piece of fabric. After this, they coloured over the design with wax, which the dye would not be able to permeate. The they used Brusho fabric dye over the top of their designs, leaving a beautiful pattern with an ombre effect in the background.

The children were very sensible and thoroughly enjoyed the task!
