We’re Going on a Dinosaur Hunt!

“We’re going on a dinosaur hunt, we’re going to catch a big one.

What a beautiful day, we’re not scared.”

This week, to introduce Year One’s new English Reader, the children went on a dinosaur hunt.  They had to swim through a river, squelch through a sticky swamp and chop down some overgrown vines before discovering the camouflaged dinosaurs hiding in the trees.  Everyone had so much fun.  Back in the classroom the pupils had a go at describing how they found the dinosaur and what it looked like.  They produced some fantastic writing.  The children also listened to their new story – Tyrannosaurus Drip by Julia Donaldson and David Roberts.  They learnt that T-Rex’s are carnivores and eat meat whereas a duckbill likes to swim and eats plants.  ROAR!

Article 31: I have the right to relax, play and take part in a range of activities.

My child told me all about this dinosaur hunt so it is lovely to see the photos! He loved it.
