Year 4 Home Learning – Week 9

Thank you to everyone for their hard work over this last half term, the effort the parents and carers are putting in to supporting children at home is amazing, and the fact we are still getting so much work in, pictures, emails and messages on Reading Plus is fantastic.

This week the writing was a newspaper report challenge and we have lots to read so we will respond as we get through them.  They have really made us smile so far.   Next week it is May half term, and the Bank Holiday on Monday.  We won’t be setting any specific directed work over the week, though children are more than welcome to access topic activities, Mathletics games and Reading Plus if they wish but there is no expectation that they have to.   A new writing task, a new half term topic web and various activities will be launched on the website on Monday  1st of June.

We will however we running a Battle of the Bands in all Key Stage 2 classes on Times Table Rockstars, with 4A competing with 4B next week from Monday morning until Sunday evening at the end of half term and we will update scores during the week. Will it be 4A or 4B to triumph this time?

As well as our day to day tasks with school, and our days in school, Mr Hollingworth has blown the cobwebs off his bike and been out locally to get some exercise, meanwhile Mrs Blinkhorn has been doing her own home schooling too, helping her daughter complete a model of the River Ganges (not sure if it was life-size!!).  She also took part in an online Escape Room game and you’ll be pleased to know, has managed to escape!  Mrs Old continues to referee many home sport tournaments and is helping with home learning too.

We wish all of our Year 4 family a great half term – to help, we have a fantastic Class of 2020 Quiz on the website too – can you put the names to the faces?  Follow this link here and see if you recognise anyone when they were very, very young:
