LEGO Moon Buggy Challenge!

This week, we were thrilled to welcome a teacher from the Royal Grammar School, Newcastle, who brought along their amazing LEGO Spike Essential kits for a special STEM workshop.

The children had a fantastic time using the kits to design and build their own moon buggies. Each creation was completely unique – from sleek, futuristic designs to rugged rovers ready for lunar exploration! The pupils worked brilliantly in teams, showing creativity, problem-solving and engineering skills throughout.

Once their builds were complete, the children used iPads to code their moon buggies, bringing them to life with movement, lights and even colour sensors that could detect and react to different LEGO blocks. It was wonderful to see their excitement as their code made their moon buggies move and respond just as they had planned.

The session was a brilliant mix of science, technology, engineering and fun, and the children came away inspired by what they could achieve with coding and creativity.

A huge thank you to Royal Grammar School, Newcastle for leading such an inspiring and hands-on workshop – it was truly out of this world!
