This week, we launched our very first Wheely Wednesday, and it was a huge hit with our Year 6 pupils! As part of the trial, children were invited to bring their own scooters and rollerblades to use safely in the MUGA area during playtime and lunchtime. The excitement was clear from the moment they arrived, and it didn’t take long before the space was filled with enthusiasm and plenty of impressive moves.
Many of the children told us that although they often ride their scooters or rollerblades at home, it felt extra special to be able to share their skills at school. They loved showing off tricks to their friends, challenging themselves to try new ones, and encouraging each other along the way. The sense of teamwork, confidence, and fun was great to see.
Alongside the wheeled fun, pupils also enjoyed trying out our new racket ball equipment, which has quickly become a lunchtime favourite. For those seeking a quieter activity, the “quiet zone” was busy with children making friendship bracelets and enjoying calm, creative time with their classmates.
We’re delighted with the success of our first Wheely Wednesday and hope to roll out these sessions to other year groups in January. Take a look at the fun we had!
