Dinosaur Visitors!

This afternoon, Year One were so lucky to have visitors from Animal Encounters.

Firstly, they introduced the topic of dinosaurs and explained how they lived thousands of years ago but now they are extinct. The children listened carefully to the possible explanation, including a meteor or a volcanic eruption, about how the dinosaurs died out. Next, our visitors explained how animals today are related to dinosaurs.   We had a chance to meet three baby dinosaurs, two herbivores and the other a carnivore. The children had the opportunity to handle and stroke a variety of reptiles, including Cherry the tortoise, Rosie the boa,  Spike the gecko, and Yuri the lizard. The children were really brave, especially when they let the snake slither across their hands. We all had a lot of fun!
