Make £5 Grow

Over the last couple of weeks, the children in Year 6 have taken part in a challenge to make £5 grow.

The children each had up to £5 (which they had to pay back) to spend enterprise projects. Working in groups, the children had to come up with a business plan, design a logo, make a budget, market the business and deliver a pitch. The products the children decided to sell were varied and creative including Kookie King’s homemade oat cookies, pebble pals, which came with an adoption certificate, bracelets, key chains, mocktails and sweets. Then, there was the hard work of making the products which took place this week.

At the school fair, the children were given a stall and each business had a time slot to sell. Clearly, we have some budding entrepreneurs with some very keen marketers and even better sales people! The Year 6 staff were very proud of how enthusiastic the children were about the project. Today, each group counted their money to see whether they had made a profit. It was brilliant that every group made some profit, and as a Year group the profit totalled over £600. Now, the children are going to decide on some end of term treats which the money will be spent on.
