Victory in Europe Day 80th Anniversary

Today, on the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, the children in school observed a two minutes silence to remember those who fought in World War Two.

Earlier in the day, the children learnt about Victory in Europe Day during class assemblies. The children enjoyed looking at photographs from 1945 and learning about how the day was celebrated. It was also interesting for the children to look at the celebrations that have happened this week. They were particularly impressed by the procession that took place on Monday in London, but even more so by the flypast of current and historic military aircraft and also the Royal Air Force’s Red Arrows.

The two minutes silence was undertaken by children throughout the school- most of the children were in their classrooms whilst others were in the dinner hall. Regardless of where the children were, they completed the silence very well, showing a great level of respect.
