Nursery took part in the start of the Big Schools birdwatch this week!

We have loved learning all about the different types of British birds we can see in our local environment and that come to visit our Nursery garden. We watched a video all about the different birds and learnt some of their names. We then made binoculars from toilet roll tubes and string to use to look out of the window for the birds that come into our garden. We noticed that not many birds come were visiting us, so we decided to make them some bird feeds to see if we could attract them back – and it worked! We hung different types of bird feeds around the nursery garden and found that lots of birds came to have a feast! We saw Robins, Blue Tits, Blackbirds, Wood Pigeons and House Sparrows.

In the classroom we had a go at painting the different types of birds we could see, thinking of their colours and shapes. We made playdough birds too. We enjoyed adding feathers and googly eyes to our dough to make birds and nests.
