Happy New Year

Nursery celebrated the start of a New Year this week.

We have been learning all about how a New Year has begun as it is now 2024. The children enjoyed listening to a story called ‘The Night Before New Years’ which talked through how families often spend their New Year’s Eve and the type of celebrations which take place. We learnt that the new year comes a week after Christmas and we watched a video of a countdown, in London, from 10-0. When we got to 0, we found that everyone shouted “Happy New Year” and lots of fireworks were set off (just like fireworks at Bonfire Night).

we talked about all of the things we had done in 2023 by looking back at out Tapestry photos and videos and sharing what we had been doing over the Christmas holidays.

The children spent time in Nursery creating firework paintings using different shapes toilet roll stencils and bright coloured paints. They also used different loose part materials to add fireworks above the city skyline on our tuff tray.
