Stick Man, oh Stick Man, Oh Stick Man, That’s Me!

This week in Nursery, we have been reading the story Stick Man. The children loved joining in with the repeated refrain throughout and were very happy that Stick Man returned to his family, with the help of Santa, at the end of the story.

As part of our topic, Little Bear and Me, the children explored the concept of families this week. We enjoyed sharing photos of our families during small group time and talking about how everyone’s families are different. We looked at our immediate family members like parents and siblings, as well as our extended family members, such as; grandparents, aunties and uncles, and cousins. Using the Stick Man story we painted our own stick family pictures using brown paint, sticks and googly eyes. The children enjoyed choosing different sized sticks and eyes depending on which family member they were painting. We used different natural loose part materials to create our families too.
