Red Nose Day 2021 – Share a Smile

After the hard start we have all endured to 2021 so far, this Red Nose Day theme is more apt than ever!  This year, it’s never felt more important to have some fun and raise money to support people living incredibly tough lives.  We need the ‘power of funny’ to turn laughs into lasting change and would love our school community to join us in raising as much money as possible on Friday 19th March.

The theme for this year is Share a Smile‘.

Dress Down Day

On Friday 19th March, the children can come into school wearing their own clothes (non-uniform), with red clothing as a focus, and any Red Nose Day accessories such as noses, deeley boppers, hats etc.  It would be much appreciated if you could send your child to school with a donation to add to our fundraising total!

Make Someone Laugh

Children will have an opportunity to share their favourite jokes with their classmates.  Please spend some time with your child finding some appropriate jokes which will spread joy.

Family Bake Off Challenge

As many of our fundraising activities are being adapted due to COVID-19 restrictions, we have decided to run an at home family bake off for you to take part in.  Families have been a key aspect to the success of our school’s home learning this academic year where we have seen lots of collaboration to make and create.  As we know how skilled families are we would like you to get your aprons ready and brush off your baking tools to make a Red Nose Day showstopper.  The aim of the activity is to spread some cheer in your household and have some light-hearted fun!

The bake off challenge runs from Friday 12th March until our fundraising day on Friday 19th March!  Please send in photographs of your family show stopper entries via Dojo or Tapestry to your child’s class teachers by the closing date.  Three winners from across school will be decided by our Rights Respect Officers and will be named Harlow Green’s Bake Off champions, for 2021.  Prizes will be given to the winning children and their families by Friday 26th March, which we will shared via the website.

Unfortunately, we can’t accept cakes being brought in but we can drool over the delights that you have created from the pictures you send us.

Let’s see if we can smash our outstanding efforts from the fundraising total that we raised for Children in Need in November! Together we can change lives with the power of funny!
