Year 4 Home Learning – Week 15

At the end of our fifteenth week of home learning, we now find ourselves in July with only two weeks to go until the summer holidays begin. Where has the time gone? It’s great to see that you are still keeping yourselves busy at home with your home learning and fun family activities. The children at school have also been working really hard but also managing to have lots of fun too.

Thank you again for the messages and pictures you have sent us this week. Well done for your hard on work writing your excellent newspaper reports – your choice of topics were very interesting and relevant. It’s great to see you also enjoying your topic home learning about recycling and creating a design for a tile to represent what our school means to you. In school, the children have been comparing photographs of the local area from the past and present to see how it has changed over time. They loved finding out about the cinema, train station and trams that used to be found in Low Fell, and how the shops on the high street have changed. They have also been learning about the importance of thorough hand washing by carrying out an investigation with bread – they rubbed their unwashed, rinsed and washed hands onto different slices of bread, sealed them in sandwich bags, and watched to see if any micro-organisms grew on them. The results were amazing! This is something that you could easily try at home.

And finally, the results are in for the sunflower growing competition. Unfortunately for year 4, year 6 were the clear winners! We hope you all have a great weekend and stay safe.
