Year 6 Home Learning- Week 11

Yet another week has passed and for some of you this may have been your last week learning from home. For those of you who will be returning to school next week, we look forward to seeing your smiling faces and hearing all about the fun activities you have entertained yourselves with during lockdown. Naturally, some of you will be continuing to learn from home and we can’t wait to see photographs of you enjoying your new tasks and challenges. It really does brighten our day when we see what you’ve all been up to and we are immensely proud of how well each and every one of you has adapted to our ‘new normal.’ Don’t forget to send anything that you think will make us smile [email protected] .

This week we have been transported back to WWII by reading your Peacekeepers work. It has been a delight to see your emotive writing skills and your understanding of evacuation in your diary entries. Some of you have been learning in the sunshine with science experiments and a spot of gardening too.Your teachers have been busy preparing for more of you to return this week, however we have still found time to have fun. Mr Allen has been enjoying exercising from home with his family and Miss Callaghan has made the most of the sunshine by reading outside. Mrs Galvin has also been keeping busy with plenty of walks in the sunshine, while Mrs Innes has been practicing her hairdressing skills and has dyed her daughters hair.

From next week, you can expect to see the weekly writing task posted as normal, however we will now also upload some grammar, reading and maths activities for you to do from home. Keep an eye out for some new topic information too. As always, you can still keep practicing your times tables on TT Rockstars and don’t forget that you also have Purple Mash to explore. It has been a long and unusual time away from you all, but we are all so pleased by the work you have been doing. Good luck for the weeks ahead, whether you are learning from home or from school. Enjoy your weekend and, above all, stay safe.
