Year 1 Home Learning – Week 9

We have come to the end of week nine and another half term. Phew! As always, we have thoroughly enjoyed reading your writing activities this week. You have used your wonderful imaginations to think of some fantastic things to take to space, including: a blanket, an oxygen tank, a space helmet, some squishy blueberries, a pair of binoculars, a cake with sprinkles, a heavy atlas, and even your family members and pets. We may even have some future astronauts at Harlow Green. 3, 2, 1, blast off!

As well as completing your writing activities, you have been very busy at home. The children have been spending lots of time outdoors going for walks, enjoying family bike rides and building birds’ nests. They have even visited the beach to collect shells, explore rock pools and eat some delicious ice-cream. Some of the children have been very creative painting stones, building dinosaurs, making shell decorations, and have created x-ray, nature and space pictures.

We are so pleased that so many of you are continuing to use Mathletics and Lexia. We can see that lots of you are achieving some fantastic scores and are even earning certificates. Well done Year 1!

This week, Miss Norman has taken part in a family quiz night. She had lots of fun but thought some of the questions were very tricky. Mrs Hopkins has been making bunting to decorate her house in preparation for her son’s birthday. Also, Mrs Lewis has celebrated her birthday this week and has enjoyed a delicious birthday tea.

Next week, it’s the half term holidays. Therefore, we will not be setting any Mathletics activities or a writing task on Monday. However, we will continue to set lots of fun activities after half term. We hope you have a safe and enjoyable holiday and, don’t forget, keep smiling!
