Home Learning: Year 4 – Week 2

We have been missing all of you in school again this week – your smiling faces, your stories and general enthusiasm for all of the challenges we set you! That’s why it has been so fantastic to receive your messages and photographs this week, of the amazing things you have been getting up to at home with your families. It’s great to see that you are all keeping busy, having lots of fun, working hard and spending some quality time as a family.

It’s been great to see so many of you keeping up with your learning in English, Maths, and Topic, with many of you completing activities from Reading Plus, TT Rockstars, Mathletics and your Topic homework. There has been lots of baking taking place in your homes this week, including some delicious looking cakes, buns and biscuits. Some of you have been having great fun with making slime and carrying out your own science experiments. The art and craft work has been very impressive with examples of sewing, origami, a volcano painting, a digital space picture and beautiful sunset image of the Angel of the North. We are also impressed to see some of you helping out your parents at home with jobs like jet washing the patio and mending a wooden playhouse.

Your year 4 teachers have also been enjoying some quality time at home and with our families to keep us occupied. Mr Hollingworth has has taken up running, is enjoying gardening in the sunshine and has set up an online quiz night to keep in touch with friends and family. Mrs Blinkhorn has been doing lots of artwork with her children and trying to complete an online fitness class every day. Mrs Old has been enjoying some long family walks and bike rides, competing in nightly Wii sports tournaments, and even managed a Zoom meeting to catch up with friends.

Easter is nearly here and we’re sure you’ll enjoy it as much as ever – especially the excuse to eat as much chocolate as you want! Please send us your entries for the Easter egg competition which ends on the 15th April, and have a go at the online Easter bingo. Take care and stay safe!

Mrs Old, Mrs Blinkhorn and Mr Hollingworth.
