Exploring 3D shapes

The children in Year 2 have been working hard to name and describe the properties of 3D shapes.  They worked with a partner to look at common 3D shapes and to check whether their friend could name them.  They were then challenged to count the number of faces and to recognise whether they were curved or flat.  There was lots of mathematical language to learn such as vertices, faces and edges as well as all of the shape names.  The children were keen to talk about where they might see these shapes within school and beyond.   Well done!
