A Visit from the “Brush up” Team

Today, Reception had a very exciting visit from the trainee dentists from the Northumbria University Brush Up Team! The children were delighted to meet the visitors and learn all about what it’s like to be a dentist. The trainee dentists talked about the different jobs they do each day, from helping people keep their teeth healthy to fixing problems and making sure everyone has a confident smile. The children were eager to share their own ideas about what might be great about being a dentist. They thought it would be fun to help people, use special tools, and make teeth “sparkly clean!” During the session, everyone learned the best ways to look after their teeth. The team taught us the importance of brushing twice a day, visiting the dentist regularly, and choosing foods that help keep our teeth strong. The children were fantastic at sorting foods into “good for teeth” and “not so good for teeth,” and they enjoyed practising their brushing skills together. At the end of the visit, each child received their very own toothbrush and toothpaste to take home and use as part of their daily routine.

Article 24: Every child has the right to the best possible health and to learn how to look after their body.
