In Maths year One have been learning about shape.
First, we learnt the names of some shapes – circle, square, triangle and rectangle. We then used these shapes to draw a shape picture. We were extremely creative. A shape robot, a train and a castle were amongst the ideas.
Later in the week we investigated shapes in real life and we sorted and grouped pictures of shapes. The children also had the opportunity to investigate repeating shape patterns and had to choose the correct shapes to complete them.
Finally, we completed the week with an investigation. The children had a jumbled-up puzzle and they had to rearrange the parts to complete a picture of different 2D shapes.
