This week Year Four have been exploring mark making in art.
First, we used pencils to do cross-hatching, diagonal lines, loopy lines, loose waves and so much more. We explored using different parts of our pencils to shade and sketch. We also used pastels to explore blended and unblended shapes. The children loved deciding how to us their pencil or pastel to create different designs.
Later on, we shaded spheres and discussed the importance of showing the shadows. We also began to draw three items: a feather, onion and a piece of wood. We really focused on the details of each image and tried to replicate the features of each picture.
Overall, year four are really enjoying our art topic and can’t wait to continue next week.
