This week, the children have been learning how to find number bonds to 10. They all used double sided counters to help them work systematically. The children started with 10 red counters on a tens frame and wrote the first calculation: 0 + 10 = 10. After each calculation, they turned over one counter to find the next number bond to 10. The children were fantastic at finding the patterns in the calculations and were able to explain how the first part increases by one, the second part decreases by one and the whole stays the same.
After some practise, the children were able to complete a number bonds task and wrote all of the number bonds to 10 in their books!
