This week, a group of our Year 6 pupils were lucky enough to visit the ITV Tyne Tees News studio for a behind-the-scenes look at how the news is made – and even got to have a go themselves!
The visit began with a guided tour of the studio, where pupils learned how news programmes are put together. They explored the gallery, discovered how green screens work, and got a glimpse of the fast-paced work that goes on behind the cameras.
A real highlight of the day was meeting some of the familiar faces from the ITV News team – Ian Payne, Emily Reader, and Ross Hutchinson. They shared insights into their roles and answered questions from our curious and enthusiastic pupils.
To top it all off, the children had the incredible opportunity to step in front of the cameras and try their hand at presenting a news broadcast and the weather. It was a brilliant way to bring their learning to life and build confidence in speaking and performing.
The pupils represented our school brilliantly, showing fantastic behaviour, enthusiasm, and thoughtful questioning throughout the visit. It was a memorable and inspiring experience – and we wouldn’t be surprised if we see some of them on our TV screens in the future!
A huge thank you to ITV Tyne Tees for their warm welcome and for providing such an exciting and educational opportunity for our children.
