Incredible Islamic Printing

This week, our Year 5 children took part in a fantastic art workshop, delivered by Northern Print,  that introduced them to the exciting world of stencils, pattern-making, and print techniques.

The session began with everyone designing their own stencils, including animals, geometric shapes, and textured patterns. With rollers and colourful inks, the children painted a plastic sheet and carefully arranged their stencils on top to create bold, eye-catching designs.

They explored layering techniques to build up vivid landscapes and striking visual effects. It was interesting to watch how some children chose to overlap their stencils to see how different shapes and colours blended together, whilst other created repeating patterns using similar shapes.

Once their designs were ready, the children brought their fabric over to the roller press. The roller pressed the fabric and stencils together, transferring their artwork onto the material. It was wonderful to see how proud they were of their finished pieces, which were full of colour, creativity and imagination.

The staff in school were absolutely amazed with the final products!
