Today, Year 6 visited St Ninian’s Church for a transition service in preparation for leaving primary school and the move to secondary school.
During the session, the children were engaged in different activities involving reflecting upon their own lives and experiences of school; considering their place in the wider world; and thinking about those questions that might be on their mind as they get ready to start a new chapter in their lives. It was lovely to see the respectful nature of the children with the different adults that were working with them and also the genuine excitement and interest in the opportunity to just take a step back and think about where they are at present in their lives. And, at the end of it all, receiving juice and biscuits is guaranteed to make everyone smile.
We know that the next four weeks are incredibly important to the children and their families and are extremely grateful to St Ninian’s for providing one of the first opportunities to think about transition and what this will involve.
