Hooray for Hockey!

This term, in PE, Year Two have been learning about hockey.

First, the children found out that hockey is played with a stick and either a ball or a puck. Did you know that there are lots of different types of hockey? Hockey can be played on ice, on a field and even on roller skates!

Next, the children learnt how to hold a hockey stick and use it to dribble a ball. The boys and girls worked hard to keep the ball under control. They kept their eye on the ball as well as looking where they were going.  They took part in lots of different activities to practise their skills including dribbling between cones and a dribbling relay.

After that, Year Two learnt how to shoot at a goal. They had to use more power than when they were dribbling and pay close attention to where they were aiming.
