This year, the children in Year Five have had the opportunity to learn how to play the guitar as part of their extra-curricular activities.
Over the term, the children have worked with talented guitar teacher Mr Strong to learn the names of the notes on the guitar and the finger positions. They also learned how important it is to get their posture right and hold the guitar in the correct way. Playing songs such as ‘Tango Hideaway’ and ‘Fiesta’ has allowed the children to learn both melodies and chords. Each time they play a song, some of the group plays the melody and others play the chords which has allowed them to form a mini band! It has been lovely to hear the sound of the guitar travelling through the corridors each Thursday after school. We certainly have some very talented musicians in our school!
