Every Tuesday, a small group of children from Year Five and Six have the opportunity to learn how to play the violin.
Taught by the talented Miss Tymm, across the year, the children have enjoyed learning a number of tunes such as A Brief History of Music, Ode to Joy and Rainy Day. Currently, the tunes of choice are a song called Fiery Fiddler which certainly wakes everybody up and another called Brahms Lullaby which, in turn, is a soft, soothing lullaby designed to send children to sleep! The children have been learning scales on the violins as well as slurs, where the notes are intended to be played smoothly and connected.
After having already performed at the Christmas Carol Concert, the children will hopefully have another chance before the end of the year to showcase their musical abilities to an audience. It is always lovely to hear them play and see their enthusiasm for learning this new skill. What a talented bunch!
