Bones, bones, bones…..

Our Science topic this term has been all about the skeleton – from animals to humans – we have looked at different types of skeletons and also the muscles and tendons that allow us to move.

We started looking at classifying living things as vertebrates or invertebrates, then looked at skeleton types – from inside or outside the body, to none at all!  We looked more closely at the human skeleton and the different bones – identifying the key ones that give us shape, form and help us to stand, move and function.

We conducted experiments into whether different lengths of our femurs meant we could jump different distances, and this week, we have been learning about muscles and how they pull our skeleton to allow us to move, and how some of them are constantly moving to keep our vital organs working.
