As part of British Science Week, the children in Year 5 took part in an exciting online workshop led by two real-life engineers.
The session gave the children a fantastic insight into the world of engineering and how engineers help to design and improve the transport we use every day.
During the workshop, the engineers discussed the important features of transport systems and how these help people travel safely, efficiently and sustainably. The children also explored how transport may change in the future as engineers work to develop more environmentally friendly solutions.
One particularly interesting part of the session was learning about different types of innovative public transport, including hydro buses and trolley buses, and how these systems can help reduce pollution and make cities cleaner.
The children were then encouraged to think about their own local area and consider what transport might look like in the future. They discussed ideas for reducing congestion and making travel more sustainable, thinking like engineers as they shared their creative solutions.
It was a brilliant opportunity for the children to see how science, technology and engineering can help solve real-world problems and shape the future of transport.
