Year 3 have had an amazing time travelling thousands of years into the past as part of their Stone Age learning! To celebrate the end of the topic, the children took part in a fantastic hands-on workshop led by Jo, who helped bring history to life in the most exciting way.
Using a giant string timeline, the class explored just how far back the Stone Age really was and learned about the development of humans over time. They discovered how homes and daily life changed, what it was like to live as a hunter-gatherer, and how everything transformed with the introduction of farming. The children even became Stone Age artists themselves, creating their own cave paintings using natural pigments—just like early humans did!
There was lots of fun too, including a hunter-gatherer version of snakes and ladders, where the children worked to collect foods and create their own Stone Age meal. One of the most exciting moments was handling artefacts, including a flint tool that is around 65,000 years old!
