Home Sweet Home!

In English, Year Two have started to read their new book – Hansel and Gretel by Anthony Browne.

To introduce the text, the children created a gingerbread cottage. They were given a paper plate and a selection of sweet treats for decoration. The children coloured in their chosen sweets, doors and windows, before carefully attaching them to their house. The cottages looked fantastic, almost too good to resist.

Throughout the week, Year Two have started to explore the text and characters, including the stepmother. They quickly concluded that the stepmother is mean, although she pretends not to be, as she is unkind to the children and plans to leave them in the woods.
