Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!

We have been learning about coasts in Geography recently.  This includes the features of coasts, human uses and how coast lines change over time.

We then focused in on ports, and compared ports we have in the UK to ports in Egypt, which links to our History topic.  This week, we’ve been looking at Tynemouth and the land uses around the mouth of the River Tyne, including the port and the land and river use.

Today, the children created spider diagrams all about the different ways that humans work, live and play around the coast nearby.  Many of the children have visited places like Long Sands, South Shields and the amusements, and the class enjoyed a trip to the beach here in Year 1, along with a visit to Souter Lighthouse.
