This week in Science, we have been learning all about forces, with a special focus on air resistance.
The children explored how air resistance acts against moving objects and how it can be used to slow things down — just like when a parachute falls through the air.
To test their understanding, the class worked in groups to design and create their own parachutes using different materials, sizes and shapes. They then carried out a series of practical tests, dropping their parachutes from a height to see which design stayed in the air the longest.
Afterwards, the children evaluated their results, discussing which parachute was the most effective and why. They considered factors such as surface area, material, and weight, showing excellent scientific thinking and teamwork throughout.
It was a fun, hands-on investigation that really brought our learning about forces to life!
