Explosive Poetry!

This week Year One have been introduced to poetry.

The children began the week by listening to, and performing a poem about a Volcano. We learnt the poem as a class and added actions. After this, we watched videos of volcanoes exploding and then even made our own volcano.  The children gasped as they watched the lava fizz, bubble and ooze out of the volcano. Towards the end of the week, we made up our own versions of a Volcano poem using exciting verbs ending with -ing. We performed them to our class – there were some excellent ideas!
