This half term, Year Two have been learning how to keep fit in PE. The children learned that keeping fit is part of having a healthy lifestyle, as well as eating a balanced diet, drinking water and getting plenty of sleep.
To begin, the boys and girls discussed what happens to their body when they exercise. The children identified that they feel hotter, their heart beats faster and they are out of breath. They learned that warming up is particularly important as this prepares the body for exercise but also prevents injury.
Over the last few weeks, the children have had the opportunity to compete against one another in a range of games, including Cardio Corners, Flamingo Tag and some challenging obstacle courses. These have encouraged the children to work cooperatively within a team to achieve a shared goal. They have had lots of fun skipping, jumping and running.
