Can technology help?

We’ve been exploring digital devices this half term in Computing, looking at what they are, and whether they can help us.

We are surrounding by digital equipment now, from appliances at home, to cars and computers.  We have been learning about what makes a device digital – having an input, a process and an output, and whether they actually help!

This week we were given a time limit to copy an image on the board in pencil, then we repeated the exercise on the iPads and discussed if we felt the device helped us, hindered our work, or made no difference.  Challenges around time, range of pencils, thickness of lines and difficulty manipulating the screens meant there was not one overall clear conclusion, however, children were clear that they preferred using the pencils overall and felt it was nicer as they had something to physically keep!
