During Art, the boys and girls in Year 3 have explored the work of artist Julia Lidell. She is a textile artist who produces woven designs. They began by comparing pieces of her work and commenting on which pieces they liked best. They identified how her work made them feel before sketching one of her designs. In order to replicate her artistic style, the boys and girls then designed a castle flag to create using weaving. Before they could begin, they added warp strings to a cardboard loom. Then, while creating their final designs, they were able to follow an over and under woven pattern to produce their flags. The boys and girls persevered when things got a little tricky and were very proud of their finished work.
