As always, reading in Harlow Green is at the forefront of the curriculum. Whether this is class texts in English, reading for pleasure books at the end of the day, or children’s individual readers, there is a great emphasis on the children reading and engaging with a range of texts.
With the money raised from the sponsored read, the school has been able to invest in hundred of new, exciting books from Reception all the way up to Year 6. Once these are all in and checked, we will post a picture of the amazing resources that will be available. Thank you again to everyone who raised money.
In Key Stage 2, the children continue to use Reading Plus and Accelerated Reader to support their reading progress. These programmes are essential in developing the children’s fluency and comprehension.
In the last couple of weeks, the children have topped the 12 million words read mark on Reading Plus and over 3000 books have been read on Accelerated Reader. What a fantastic effort!
