This week we introduced our new English text – Meerkat Mail.
The book was initially a mystery. The children had to find the main character in the book by going on a safari hunt on the school field. Luckily it was a gloriously sunny day. Firstly, everyone made a safari name badge. Next, they explored the field for any signs of wild animals. Using a clipboard, every pupil ticked off each animal as they found it and wrote down its name. Some children even pretended they had binoculars. We found a lion, an orangutan, a parrot and even a giraffe. Back in the classroom the children discovered their new book was Meerkat Mail and were introduced to the character of Sunny (who they also discovered on the safari hunt!)
A great start for everyone. Well done!
