How to make a peach treat.

Everyone in Year One knows that Mr Grinling, from the Lighthouse Keepers Lunch, loves a peach treat.

So, we decided to make one for Mr Grinling. We started the week by reading a non-fiction book called how to make a peach treat.  It showed everyone features of instructional text and it also taught us how to follow a recipe.  Next, we used pictures to sequence the different steps.

On Friday we actually made the peach treat.  We firstly gathered the ingredients – peaches, cream, cake, custard and chocolate flakes.  Then we read each step and followed the instructions.  The children all listened really carefully and had a lot of fun making the treat.  They especially enjoyed squirting the whipped cream out of the can.

After we had finished making it, we all went out for a picnic.  It tasted delicious!  The following week we wrote our own instructions on how to make a peach treat.
