During the Autumn Term, the topic in Year 6 was ‘Peacekeepers.’ As part of this topic, the children produced various pieces of writing for different audiences and purposes.
In the Spring Term, the children chose their favourite piece of writing. Some chose a speech where they had taken the role of Winston Churchill to inspire the nation; others chose descriptive extracts based upon the Michael Morpurgo book ‘Friend or Foe;’ and other chose poems or animations. The children then word-processed and edited their book ready for publishing. There was much excitement this week when the finished book arrived in school; the children poured over the book to find their own work and then enjoyed reading the work of others too. One of our main drivers in school is to show children that the possibilities for them are endless – and they can now all claim to be published authors!
