Harlow Green implements Kidsafe across school with children having a session every term with Mrs Cunningham.
These sessions focus on ‘yucky’ feelings and the importance of talking to a trusted adult. In Year 6 this week, the children have been thinking about mental health and factors that can affect how we are feeling. The children were able to discuss the difference between having a bad day, or something going wrong and issues that could be more serious and have a bigger impact on their mental health. It was interesting to hear the children suggesting things that they could do to improve their mental health – from listening to music to doing exercise.
During the session KS the monkey is always there to listen to the children’s ideas – and give a reassuring cuddle to those children who want one!
